Thalang Welfare Memorial

Thalang welfare, or Heroin’s monument is one of the most iconic and respected monument in Phuket. Celebrating the victory of the two sisters Khun Mook and Khun Chan who two hundreds years ago, led the locals, of whom many were women, to fight and defeat the Burmese army, and therefore stop the invasion.
Currently located in the center of Thalang roundabout, this project was discussed to offer a more isolated location from the growing traffic. The memorial we created, deliberately suppressed the existing road and invite in the picture pedestrian walkway as well as museum where to learn more about this part of Phuket’s history, and a place of worship to pay respect to those brave ancestors.
